World Book Day 2017

World book day is a massive charity event! It is celebrated across the world, especially in schools and social community clubs. This is the 20th year of world book day and everyone comes together on this special day to appreciate reading on Thursday 3rd March. At Eden girls Waltham forest, we celebrated the fantastic day by dressing up as our favourite book heroes and heroines.

On World Book Day students and adults both dress up, they may dress up as a Disney princess or a character from a horror film. Everybody donates £1, which is given to the charity ‘Book Aid International’.

Whether you are participating in a competition or receiving your special book token, nearly everyone shows their enjoyment for reading on this special day. The main aim for world book day is to encourage children and more adults to read more books and to discover more about books and also the authors.

“A fun and enjoyable day full of excitement. Everyone dressed up as their favourite characters and the day was jam-packed with tons of activities. We even designed our very own book token!”

World book day is celebrated in over 100 countries all over the world designed by UNESCO!

This is a day where children are given an opportunity to buy themselves their very own book, with the token they can get £1 off any book or audio book.

On this day more than 14 million Tokens are given out, which is nearly every child under the age of eighteen.
