Famous Scientist Stephen Hawking dies at 76
Stephen William Hawking was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. He was born 8 January 1942, Oxford and die d on 14 of March 2018, Cambridge. His greatest books were A Brief History of Time and The Grand Design .
He died peacefully at his home in Cambridge very early on Wednesday morning, his family said. The British scientist was known for his work in physics, and he wrote many best-selling science books . At the age of 22 Professor Hawking was given only a few years to live, after being diagnosed with neurone disease a rare form of motor. This condition makes the muscles in your body stop working over time and Professor Hawking quickly lost the use of his legs, arms and eventually his voice. Then a special computer was built that speaks the words he wants this is how he communicated. Despite all of this , he continued to write books, make speeches and work as a scientist at the University of Cambridge. This was his passion , from an early age he loved science .
Stephen Hawking was really famous indeed he was invited to go on the red carpet and went to a micro- gravity on a special flight in 2007 when he turned 65 for his birthday , he really loved space. The micro- gravity flight meant he experienced weightlessness, floating like astronauts and objects do when they’re in space. Space Agency Nasa shared a video of Professor Hawking talking about this experience, where he says he felt “true freedom”, and that “his smile was the biggest his friends had ever seen.” He said ” I felt like superman ” .
Apart from all this he made many discovers not only that he has books that tackle questions about the universe and our existence. His most famous book ‘A Brief History of Time’, was designed to be read by ordinary people and not just scientists. It was an instant success and spent years at the top of best sellers lists and sold about one thousand copies. On top of this he made an important discovery about black holes it was so significant that it was named after him , ” Hawking Radiation “,in honor of his discovery .
Many people have made there tributes to Scientist Stephen Hawking for example David Walliams saying “Goodbye Stephen Hawking. Thanks for being – amongst everything else – a great laugh.”. In addition Astronaut Time Peake also paid tribute, saying “He inspired generations to look beyond our own blue planet and expand our understanding of the universe. His personality and genius will be sorely missed.”and actor Eddie Redmayne, who played Professor Hawking in a film, said:” We have lost a truly beautiful mind, an astonishing scientist and the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet.” His family quoted ” we will miss you very much and we love you “.
