Collection of medals

Harry Braimah was born in Ghana in 1871. He was a Colonel in the 81st and 82nd West African international army that was brought together to fight the Japanese occupation of Burma (now Myanmar) in the Second World War. He served in the south of Burma and was awarded three medals. He survived the war and returned to Ghana, where he passed away in 1952.

Harry Braimah’s grandson, Mubarak Amidu, was interviewed for the Remember Together project by his daughter Saeeda, who only discovered her great-grandfather’s history of WW2 service as part of this project.

Mubarak Amidu was interviewed by his daughter Saeeda Amidu and her friends Hafsa Saddique and Amirah Khaliq.
